Position Summary 

Literacy Minnesota seeks a substitute to provide evening coordination for our Adult Basic Education (ABE) Learning Center at our Minneapolis campus (627 Broadway W). This is an excellent opportunity for those looking for flexible, occasional work to support adult learners, with longer, temporary assignments sometimes available. Key Responsibilities 

  • Coordination: Provide evening coverage for the learning center, including managing opening and closing procedures. 
    • Customer Service: Serve as the primary evening contact for learners, volunteers, and staff, answering incoming phone calls and providing general information and support. 
  • Administrative Tasks: Assist with learner intake forms, testing procedures (e.g., CASAS, TABE), and data entry into the SID database. Maintain confidentiality of learner information and help manage class and volunteer schedules. 
  • Volunteer and Staff Support: Orient and assist evening volunteers and teachers, ensuring they have access to necessary lesson materials, classroom supplies, and functioning technology.
  • Facility Support: Ensure a smooth and functional evening operation. Report any technology or facility issues to the appropriate manager 

Qualifications 

  • Experience in program coordination or related administrative roles. 
  • Experience working with diverse communities and a commitment to DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) goals.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Proficiency with basic office software and databases. 
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Somali is a plus.
